Sucre Lavande {Lavender Sugar}

Hello darlings! My family harvested their lavender and I decided to make one of my favorites....lavender sugar! It is so easy to make and tastes delicious.  It also makes a fabulous gift idea.
Cut some of your organic lavender from your garden. If you don't have any, it's very inexpensive and can be bought at any store that has a plant department or nursery. Triple wash it and hang it upside down to dry.

Once it's dry, peel it off the stalks and put the petals in your blender or food processor.
Once it is finely ground, mix it in with your sugar. My favorite sugar to use is organic raw sugar but you can use anything you would like. If you want to make lavender powdered sugar, add the sugar with the lavender in your food processor and it will turn into a fluffy puff of sweetness.
The ratios to this recipe are completely up to you. I like mine on the stronger side so I use plenty of the lavender petals. Start with a little bit of lavender and add more according to what you like. If you prefer to not have the petals blended in, you can stick a little stalk of lavender in your sugar and seal it in an air-tight container and let it sit for a few days. The lavender will lightly flavor your sugar. To switch it up a bit, you can throw in a vanilla bean to make lavender vanilla sugar!
If you are giving this as a gift, add a bow, label and a sprig of lavender and you are good to go!
Lavender sugar is fantastic in teas, cocoa, cocktails, lemonade, in baked goods, sprinkled over homemade doughnuts or muffins, on top of sugar cookies and vanilla ice cream. You can also mix it with some lemon zest, olive oil and a few drops of lavender and lemon essential oil, to make a wonderful hand and body scrub.

This is the label and packaging I made for our sugar scrub last year.

 Hope you enjoy! If you give it a shot I would love to know how yours turned out!

  2. Oh molly, this looks so tempting! I absolutely love it.Unfortunately, where I stay, lavenders are very hard to find...thinking of trying them with vanilla pods :)

  3. Oh bummer! :(If I had any of mine left over I would send you some dry petals. Vanilla is so delicious, give it a shot. All you have to do with the vanilla is let the bean sit in with the sugar, you don't need to grind it up. Have a blessed day!
