If you live in Europe, you know that there is NO storage space in the homes here. No closets, and hardly any drawers. You have to get massive pieces of storage and or turn normal rooms into storage units to hide any clutter or mess. You truly have to make the most of every nook and cranny! We desperately needed an organized space to store extra kitchenware, flour, sugar, pasta etc, etc. The kitchen niche was the perfect place to create a pantry along side our coffee bar. We also needed our niche to be a place to take off shoes, coats, gloves and act as a mud-room. After a little bit of elbow grease we finally got it how we like it, pretty and practical. As I mentioned before, we have been updating our home and wanted to show you updated room tours!
The "Before" wall color reminds me of easy mac...gross... Ok, so I do sometimes enjoy that nasty stuff...don't judge!
Here is a reminder of what my free coffee bar looked like before.
Here is our space after!
We used the shelves we already had from our last contemporary kitchen and painted them cream so that they would match the cabinets in our current kitchen! They absolutely look as though they belong together!
Everything in this space is practical, useful, and organized... there are no more flour bags spilling out on the floor because they are crammed too tightly in one of our few cabinets. I feel like I am selling this on an infomercial... Travel size shelves are included for only 10 payments of $9.99!
I love that my cow (creamer) has eyelash extensions...
I recently added these cupcake liners in a jar! I love the pop of color and how cute they are!
I adore my burlap wreath because it fits in perfectly with every season and looks great with my coffee sack rug! It also slightly resembles coffee filters. A coffee filter wreath may have to replace it at some point. To get a tutorial on the burlap wreath, click here.
I am so thrilled, I just painted my barn door Annie Sloan Duck Egg Blue to match our kitchen table (which I just painted as well! I love how it turned out!
Our quirky Polish pottery, is all so colorful, cheery and oh, so Eastern European looking! do you think I should let her know that she went a little too heavy on the blush?
My coffee/ tea caddy is the perfect place to store goodies to put in coffee and tea and is also portable. To see how I created it, click here.
Instead of using the drawers to store clutter, we have set up a tea drawer in one and the other holds napkins., towels etc.
Here is a close up of our two euro coat hooks...
I am off working on design projects and spring cleaning! What have you been working on this week? Are you getting your lives organized?
