DIY Coffee Sack Bulletin Board and a Taste of Trier

I have to say, folks, that I am a bit overwhelmed.... in a totally wonderful way that is. I literally have a million great things going on all at once that I want to share with you. There are so many projects, trips, festivals, recipes, crafts, room reveals, falliday decor, and scenery shots that I can't wait to write about. I have no idea when I will get the time to write about all of this before the Christmas season starts (and I start doing holiday decor and winter market posts), but I am determined to share as much as I possibly can with you all!
I have been wanting to create a coffee sack bulletin board for over a year now. After my friend Iris and my craft shopping extravaganza in Trier, I finally had the last thing I needed (a coffee sack) to create the board that I have been longing for. I am kicking myself for not buying more of these versatile beauties. Here is a taste of Trier, the city we went shopping in!

More on Trier coming soon!

To create the bulletin board, I cut the back off of one of the coffee sacks I was using for a rug. I purchased a bulletin board for 7 Euro, grabbed around 200 flat head, metal tacks, and put my friend Chompy, the staple gun, to work.
I layed my sack of awesomeness on the bulletin board, and stuck nails into it side by side making sure it was inside the edge of the wooden trim like so...
See, here is what I mean...
After all my tack trim was in (I did this to look like nail-head trim), I flipped the board over and tightly staple gunned the burlap to the wood trim.
And, I was done..Yep folks....it's really that easy. It can be done quicker than you can watch an episode of your favorite t.v. show. But get off of the t.v., you don't need it, it's almost all garbage (not talking about design and cooking shows of course). I would love to do a few of these boards as a series of art. I can't imagine a room this wouldn't work in. Ok, maybe in a princess room. For my friends that are LDS, maybe we could pretend that it's decaf coffee?

What have you made with rugged burlap sacks???
Toodles!

  6. Molly, get out of my head!! Haha! I was just thinking about a burlap bag project, and thought about you :) But first of all, WOW!! That's brilliant. I love that you have ideas that I've not seen anywhere else! I love nail-head trim on everything. I'm considering it for a clothing option somehow, lol!
I was wondering if you know if it's possible to get custom printing on a burlap bag? Some friends of ours are getting married and loved the burlap sac hanging in our dining room. I thought it would be great to have one with their name and a fleur de lis printed on it. Any ideas?
