Dining Room Re-Reveal

Happy New Year, darlings! If you follow me on Facebook, you know that I have spent most of 2013 in bed with a migraine...Today is the second day this week that I was able to get out of bed and get some work done. I am praying I can get this migraine junk all figured out... I hope your year has started off better than mine. However, today is a new day, the sun is glistening on a fresh blanket of snow and it feels so good to be better!
We have made some changes in our home during the holidays, so you probably noticed many of them within my holiday posts. I wanted to show you updated tours of our rooms now that all our Christmas decor down. Below, are some pictures of our (rental) barn's dining room before we got our dirty little hands on it!

And here it is now!
The reason why I have so much light furniture going on is because this room only has one little window... I really wanted to the room to be bright and sunny and the light colors help keep it fresh and airy. I am embracing European rustic and I simply love it!

I recently added this newly painted and distressed antique dresser that I have had since I was a kid. The window is from an old German farmhouse and the candelabra definitely adds some drama to the space! The dresser has a ton of storage for napkins, tablecloths, chargers etc.

Here is what the dresser looked like before...

This pallet bar was free to create and we use it all the time. Read more about it here.

I recently got rid of my (temporary) chalkboard clock and added a menu board and It ended up going beautifully in our dining room and is quite useful!

It looks so romantic in the evening with the candles lit...

Our Christmas menu is still up because I like it too much to erase it.
Here is a reminder of what our bar looked like before...

I added a few pops of red in the room and I just love how it looks with our turquoise pillows...

Thank you for checking out our updated dining room! What have you been working on this new year?

Where did you get your wine barrel table thing? I want one and msut have one before we live Germany. On base they cost $300+. I would love to be able to refinish my own :)

    Keep on rockin' girl!

    1. Oh Becca, thank you so very much! Your compliment means the world to me... really, thank you so much :) I got my barrel from a random old man who was selling them out of his home in Napa Valley (where there are a ton of them) I am blown away by how pricey they are everywhere... where are you coming from?

  3. Hi Molly - love, love, love your place. I wish I had that kind of room (and ceiling height to work with). I live in a little bungalow.

Hope you feel better soon. I used to suffer from migraines but take a low dosage of Epival (actually an anti-seizure medication) and haven't had one in years! Good luck, Julie

    1. Hey there Julie! Thank you so much! I just love Bungalows... they are so cozy!Thank you so much for your warm wish of recovery... I am on a preventative right now and it was working great until recently. I was taking maxalt in addition to it but had an allergic reaction to it... time to go back to my neurologist. I hope you are having a lovely week and I hope your migraines are staying far far away!

  7. Simply stunning, but I think I have said that about all of your rooms, you certainly have an eye for these things. I would love to incorporate a little European rustic to our decor, but alas, I have way too many colors in every single room all through out our house, and would require ALOT of painting on my end :( So for now, I will just drool over your rooms.

  9. I hope you are feeling better! I have migraines ever once in a while, thankfully not very often anymore. When I took a prescription for it, it made me nauseous.

I love your dining room! It sooo inspires me, because my dining room is pretty much a blank canvas and I want the end result have the same look and feel as yours. I have a very shabby chic old buffet that needs to be refinished...its just sitting in my basement, and it needs to make its way into my dining room soon! Im always impressed by the way you tie everything together with the details and little things to make it look like a finished room that's comfortable and lived in!
