Adding Some Schtuff to La Casa

Hello, guten tag, buon jour! I hope you all are enjoying your weekend! I have been busy cooking up a bunch of healthy and all natural meals, traveling with some ladies to Strasbourg, France and trying to pull my house together. I love all this busyness! I wanted to share with you a few new details and additions we have added to our home (all subject to change!). Our home is currently being set up with an eclectic, coastal-summer kind of vibe. It is hard to see in the pictures below, but the paint on the walls is more of a grey than it is tan.
I finally got the cowhide I have been swooning over! The best part is, thanks to one of my readers Ann from the wonderful blog These Wall's of White's suggestion, I got it at Ikea for half the price of the ones I was looking at online. I had to dig through a huge pile of spotted black and brown hides, but finally found a grey, beige and cream, non "cow" looking one. It is the perfect color and size for the space, I just love it!
One of my favorite things about this cowhide is it has the branding on it as you can see in the picture above.

I still haven't decided what I want to do with this akward filled-in doorway that is located in my living room. For now, I put my stack of vintage luggage and an old shutter from our house (that I am supposed to be re-doing) in there. Our incredible neighbors, who have become our family over here, sanded this one down. We can't finish until we get a little tool and I thought it would be a shame to not show it off in all of its chippy glory, until we can finish them!

I like the idea of a shutter in there so much I may have to find another vintage one to replace it once we use it on the front of our house.

I finally have a spot in my home for one of my favorite pictures. I got this quirky and slightly mysterious mixed-media piece of art for Christmas last year. It has everything I love in it, a bright mix of color, shimmer and a touch of Ikat in the woman's head wrap. This piece is by a Polish artist, and was discovered by my hubby at the wonderful Homegoods! It also goes nicely with my Etsy chain-link pillows (to see which Etsy shop they are from click here) and tribal towel from Cost Plus World Market.  Click here to see how I turned that old music sheet cabinet into a wine cabinet.
The Chain-link citron pillows are actually a lot more muted than they appear in this picture.
The arrangement above is located in our dining room which is connected to our living room and the pillows and art go perfectly with what is going on in the living room. I am really happy that you can see the stripes from the hall (click here to see the hall transformation) from both the kitchen and dining room.
Penny insisted on being in the pictures.

I found these awesome dried cotton branches from Ikea. I saw these in a home on a t.v. show, that was located in the deep south, and have been looking for them ever since. I was so excited to find them for only a couple Euro. I feel they add a touch of Southern Charm. These pitchers that are vases, spoon holders, and towel hooks were purchased at Mobel Martin here in Germany. If you wanted to order them on line you can get similar ones from Land of Nod. They are a contemporary twist on a vintage item.  I will be adding these shots to the ones in my Kitchen Reveal Post.

I am off to hang some new chandeliers we got yesterday! I will show you more pictures of these rooms soon! Stay tuned! In my next post I am having a fabulous give-away!

  4. Looking awesome Molly! I am so glad my suggestion worked out. LOVE the brand. Your place is getting so put together. We move into our new housing here in Japan tomorrow. I cannot wait for our household shipment. I bought bolts of fabric before we left, new drapes and cushions that I just cannot wait to have done! I think you lucked out too, your interior architecture is fantastic there. Love our new apartment but they all seem to have this horrid burgundy carpet. I am going to need to find some seagrass or jute rugs over here! Sadly we are far from ikea but I may just have to order them. This carpet is terrible!
