Castello di Amarosa and a Headboard

Hello everyone! Only two more days till Christmas! Recently, we visited the Castello di Amarosa near Calistoga, which is a gorgeous Castle made out of bricks and parts from different ancient castles from around the world. It was spectacular!! I felt as if I was in Tuscany and, the wine was out of this world! I wanted to show you some inspiring pictures from our day there!

The ceilings in the main dining room are stunning and look like old fresco paintings. I also am in love with the beams and chandeliers. If I had a chandelier I would have it dripping with greenery too! Hopefully my home in Germany will have a chandelier so I can do this next Christmas!

This dragon is from an ancient castle and used to spew tar on enemies when the castle was being attacked.
The gardens were so pretty and the animals were adorable!

The chicken looked like they were wearing shaggy pants!
Thanks for checking out our little day trip! I also wanted to show you a headboard I am working on for a client.
Before:
These are old mismatched closet doors from a thrift shop that we split apart and painted an antique white. We distressed them, added stain to the scratched areas, and reassembled them with hinges to create a better looking arrangement. Now they look like really old shutters off of an old colonial home and will make a gorgeous headboard for less than $75! We can't wait to show you what they look like in the finished room!

Have a fabulous Christmas Eve Eve!

  1. Wow, what a great idea, Molly! We just moved to Germany as well and living off on loaner furniture until our home goods get here. In the meantime, my imagination is at work as to where things will go when they get here. Thanks for this idea of the shutters, I think I could use this in our master bedroom! I'm your new follower and a big fan!

    1. Welcome to Germany! you will love it here! Don't you just adore that loaner furniture? So comfortable! don't know where you are located but if you are near Ramstein AFB there are a ton of windows and shutters on the Ramstein Yardsales and Baumholder Yardsales web pages. Good luck setting your new home up and I hope my blog will be helpful to you!
