What a spectacular and eventful week it has been! I will update you all on our trip to Italy and The States soon, but wanted to post about our Christmas-y week before it falls through the cracks and the season is gone!
This last week, my friend, my pup Penny and I went to the Trier Christmas Market. It was Penny and my first European Market experience and what a magical event it was!

If you can ever make it to Germany in the winter, Christmas markets are a must! The air smells of crisp snow, Gluhwein (a German mulled wine), evergreen, and loads of tasty German food. Like I mentioned in the past, the arrangements and Christmas decorations are completely unique and totally different to those in The States.
I was blown away by the detail, thought and time that went into decorating the storefronts and market booths to make it special for all the village folk.

Penny and I also scored a ton of coffee sacks from a little cafe! Woo hoo!
It was a beautiful day!
After picking up some delectable groceries in France (if you live in Europe, you must shop the Cora) and a Christmas tree for our barn.
The next evening, we went to a wine tasting at a friend's house! Our friends, Ivona and Jeff, spoiled us with exceptional wine, food and company! They had a connoisseur from France come and do a tasting from around the world.. It was such a fabulous experience!
Ivona had their gorgeous home decked out with candles and evergreen to set the mood. With all the wine, food, candles, and hip music, I felt as though we were being entertained in a swanky lounge! What generous and wonderful hosts they were!
I spent Sat morning at a Nostalgic Christmas market at my favorite antique shop, Vintage Inspirations! It was a wonderful morning of shopping and visiting with clients and friends. We got the coolest zinc feeding trough, originally from an old German barn, a little Christmas cottage, and a vintage alarm clock. I will share more on the market soon!
Phew, what a wonderfully exhausting weekend!
Tonight I am going to attempt making escargot, and flammkuchen... Until then, I am going to enjoy a cappuccino and start decorating our tree!

ReplyDeleteGuess a few of us are living vicariously thru you in Germany/Europe. I truly envy you, I've always loved to travel with my Dad then with my hubs, been all over US and some of Canada.

What part of Germany do you live in? Are there many young marrieds there in the service also?
My hubs was a trucker so I went with him whenever I could. My Dad loved to travel so I went with him as a teenager. Hubs and I have moved around the US, I'd get a wild hair, say lets go to wherever and off we'd move. No more tho, he says we're too old to move anymore, (maybe he is). Happy life
